Essel Vidyut Vitaran (Gwalior) Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded the power distribution franchise for Gwalior city by Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company Limited (MPMKVVCL) for a period of 15 years through a competitive bidding process.

Gwalior is the fourth largest city of Madhya Pradesh and is often referred to as the tourist capital of the state. Gwalior was the capital of Madhya Bharat (1947–1956) before the creation of the Madhya Pradesh state. Gwalior city is spread over 174 sq. kms with a population of about 10.5 lacs and 2.02 lacs registered power consumers.

The estimated demand in the area is about 298 MW with annual power consumption of about 1031.3 MUs. By the end of FY 2014-15 EVVGPL aims to bring down the AT&C losses to 15%, which by 2010-11 FY end stood at an excessively high level of 47.43%.

EVVGPL (Special Purpose Vehicle created by Essel Utilities) will soon be managing the power distribution services in the city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and will provide highly efficient power distribution services.
